Magistrate Dr Carol Peralta has resumed duties in Malta with effect from 18 February 2012 after almost nine years serving abroad. He began serving with the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo in 2003. He was presiding judge of the Special Chamber of the Supreme Court of Kosovo dealing with privatisation matters. Later he served as Chief International Judge of Kosovo and was tasked with managing the international justice programme in that country. In January 2008 he joined the State Court of Bosnia-Herzegovina, first as an international judge with first instance jurisdiction over war crimes and organised crime, and was later elevated to one of the appeal chambers of the same court.
