On Wednesday 14 July 2010 the Association of Judges and Magistrates of Malta organised a lunch in honour of retired judge Joseph D. Camilleri and retiring judge Joseph Galea Debono. The lunch was held in the Princess Room of the Casino Maltese, in Valletta. In a short address, the President of the Association, Mr Justice Joseph Azzopardi, thanked the two judges for their years of service on the Bench, and highlighted the different routes that had brought both of them to the pinnacle of their legal careers: in the case of Judge Camilleri, appointment at a very young age as a Magistrate; in the case of Mr Justice Galea Debono appointment as a judge after many years in private practice – a “late vocation”. Those attending the lunch included the Chief Justice, Vincent De Gaetano, and Justices Joseph Micallef, Giannino Caruana Demajo, Joseph Filletti, David Scicluna, Noel Cuschieri. Joseph Zammit McKeon, Geoffrey Valenzia, Alberto Magri, Phillip Sciberras, Anna Felice, Michael Mallia and Tonio Mallia; as well as Magistrates Tony Vella, Anthony Ellul, Doreen Clarke, Jacqueline Padovani Grima, Silvio Meli, Audrey Demicoli, Myriam Hayman, Claire Stafrace Zammit and Gabriella Vella.
