Pursuant to a writ from the President of Malta in terms of Article 101A(5)(c) of the Constitution, Judges and Magistrates were convened, in separate meetings, by the Chief Justice on Wednesday 7 April 2010 for the election of two Judges and two Magistrates to serve on the Commission for the Administration of Justice for the next four years. Magistrate Dr Silvio Meli and Magistrate Dr Jacqueline Padovani Grima were re-elected from among the Magistrates; whereas the Judges re-elected the Hon Mr. Justice Geoffrey Valenzia, and elected the Hon. Mr Justice Joseph Azzopardi to replace the Hon. Mr Justice Joseph Galea Debono, who did not contest the elections.
